Located directly on the glamorous West Beach strip on the iconic Palm Jumeirah, Lucky Fish Dubai has established itself as the go-to for sophisticated diners looking for a chic, laid-back restaurant with a sumptuous vibe. The Laguna Properties team can often be found at Lucky Fish on a Friday lunch, enjoying the coastal-luxe interiors, the insta-grammable European-inspired menu, and a generous selection of wines and unmissable cocktails that evoke the spirit of a St Tropez beach club. Here are just some of the reasons we love Lucky Fish:
Best sunset views in town:
As rosé-hued sunsets colour Dubai’s iconic Marina skyline, a flattering glow is painted over the patrons as they lounge in Lucky Fish’s beach cabanas and across king-sized sunbeds. This is the epitome of relaxed Balearic scenes with a dash of Dubai gloss, and it induces a sense of cathartic unwinding after a week of Zooms.
Oh-so-pretty dishes
Fortunately, the food tastes as good as it looks, but there’s definitely something special in the presentation and plating. A bouncingly fresh pink sea bream is artfully filleted, sliced and marinated, only to be re-assembled as crudo on top of the filleted fish, finished with lemon vinaigrette, gold leaf and Beluga caviar. Enjoy the details: the Lucky Fish crudités are a colourful forest of bitingly fresh vegetables in their own copper bath, and the elegant lobster salad plays visual tricks with the coral-claws ornamentally contrasting against the amber glow of cantaloupe melon and ruby blood-orange segments.
Show-stopping performance
No meal at Lucky Fish is complete without a touch of theatre from the European trained staff. Order an array of starters to be served at the table, or for the main, choose the salt baked seabass and enjoy the spectacle of it being expertly be-boned and plated in real time. An extravagant option is the lobster (priced per kilogram), oozing with garlicky, lemony butter, that we recommend with a side of grilled asparagus and hollandaise sauce; a rich yet surprisingly light treat with anchovy, parmesan and black truffle. Those looking for the ultimate seafood experience will enjoy the towering cold seafood platter; a show-stopping, peachy-hued display of prawns, clams and crab legs.
The desserts are also a must and a decadent way to round off a signature Lucky Fish experience. We recommend the deconstructed cheesecake, which is smashed and served with a flourish, finished with generous servings of rich berry sauce.
The vibe
Linen curtains waft across chalk-coloured walls and floorboards, and the seating is an amiable mix of luxurious distressed white wood park-bench seating and French armchairs, all upholstered in cool breezy coastal fabrics. Antique crystal chandeliers sway overhead, olive trees snake through the dining room, and linen canopies protect outside diners. The shoreline-meets-heirloom vibe reminds us of The Real Housewives Lisa Vanderpump’s Beverly Hills hotspot SUR. In the background, the melodic hum of mellow beach beats, all working together to create a perfect escapist experience.
